Seat Map Overview

Seat map functionality allows passengers to view available seats and select specific seats for their flights. The seat map system provides comprehensive seat selection capabilities including premium seat options, seat restrictions, and real-time availability.


Available Operations

1. Get SeatMap

Retrieve the seat map layout for a specific flight, showing available and occupied seats.

2. Add SeatMap

Book or assign seats to passengers for an existing booking.

3. Delete SeatMap

Cancel or remove seat assignments from passengers.

Typical Workflow

  1. Retrieve Seat Map: Use Get SeatMap to display available seats for the flight
  2. Select Seats: Allow passengers to choose from available seats
  3. Assign Seats: Use Add SeatMap to book the selected seats
  4. Modify Assignments: Use Delete SeatMap to remove seats if needed

Important Considerations

  • Seat Availability: Seat maps are updated in real-time
  • Premium Seats: Some seats may have additional fees
  • Restrictions: Certain seats may have passenger type or age restrictions
  • Time Limits: Seat assignments may have validity periods
  • Aircraft Types: Different aircraft have different seat configurations

Business Rules

  • Seat selection is typically available after booking confirmation
  • Some airlines allow seat selection during the booking process
  • Premium seat fees are airline and route dependent
  • Emergency exit row seats may require passenger acknowledgment
  • Group bookings may have special seating requirements
